Artist Statement

Statement — Rachel Jeffery

My work begins with an intuitive response: a mark, a colour, a remembered fragment.

Working in a loose, often abstracted way, the paintings evolve through layers and a variety of media. Surfaces build, colours breathe and images emerge and recede; process is central to the work.

Exhibitions & Collection

Rachel has exhibited widely in the UK in both group and solo shows. Her work is in private collections in the USA, Germany and across the UK.

Materials & Process

A variety of media are used across paintings and mixed-media work. Layers of paint, mark-making and subtle reworking create depth and atmosphere. Each piece is permitted to develop organically rather than be planned from start to finish.

Commissions & Contact

Commissions are considered; please contact for availability, pricing and lead times. Regular purchasers and collectors are welcomed to enquire about upcoming pieces and exhibitions.

Artists Statement ARTIST STATEMENT

“Predictable paintings bore me. The unpredictable excites me.”

Rachel Jeffery is a mixed media artist based in south-west Cornwall whose work demonstrates a deep ‘sense of place’. Her paintings directly respond to her environment — whether her own extensive garden, the dramatic Cornish coastline, or inspiration drawn from extensive travelling.

Surrounded by the site of her family’s horticultural business, Rachel absorbs visual information and then, in her words, ‘paints it out of her’. Photography and printmaking play a central role in her process: photographs serve as references or starting points, while hand-cut stencils combine with drawing and painting to produce surprising textures and abstract motifs.

Rachel hopes her work engages collectors without giving all the answers at one glance — providing space for the viewer to connect personally, and ultimately to bring the work into their lives at home.

Commissions & Contact

Commissions are considered; please contact for availability, pricing and lead times. Regular purchasers and collectors are welcomed to enquire about upcoming pieces and exhibitions.

Rachel accepts commissions for original paintings, prints, and interior art projects. All enquiries welcome via email or the website contact form.

Original Paintings

Rachel offers a personal commission service tailored to each client. She begins with a home visit to understand exactly what you’re looking for — the subject, the space where the work will hang, and your budget. During this conversation, Rachel takes time to really listen, drawing out the details that matter most to you: a meaningful place, a shared passion, or a once-in-a-lifetime trip. These personal threads often become the heart of the painting.

Following the consultation, a deposit is taken to cover materials. Rachel then creates two or three initial compositions for you to choose from, so you’re never committing to something unseen.

Art Prints

Limited edition prints are available from selected original works. Printed to archival quality on fine art paper. Please enquire for available editions, sizes, and pricing.

Interior Projects

Rachel works with interior designers and private clients to create bespoke artwork for residential and commercial spaces. Site visits can be arranged to discuss scale, palette, and placement, ensuring the finished piece feels entirely at home in its setting.
