Porthleven Art Group - A Lesson in ‘Value’

Last week I was invited back, for the third time, to deliver an art class to the lovely members of the Porthleven Art Club. The class took place at Porthleven Village Hall and it was an absolute pleasure to be back with this wonderful group of aspiring artists.

I taught a valuable lesson in VALUE (see what I did there!). ‘Value’ is one of the most important conditions in a painting, even more so than colour. If it’s right, the painting is alive, without value a painting will look flat. The value of a painting refers to how light or dark a colour is, or the relative lightness or darkness of a colour.

The class must have gone well as they all said they learnt something new and I had great reviews. I would love to do more teaching as I like to inspire and excite people in their art practice. I always leave these classes with a spring in my step knowing that I have given back by sharing my knowledge.

If you are interested in booking me for a group or one-to-one teaching session, please get in touch!
